Career Quiz for Kids: Are Pedestrians Green?

Ok, I’ll admit right up front that this CareerWise discussion topic came to me as part of a mental rant I had out on a walk this morning.

While walking down to the Post Office to mail a letter, I was almost hit at three different crossings by drivers talking and texting on their hand-held devices!

Even after having to slam on their brakes they seemed oblivious or impervious (bonus points for knowing what impervious means) to the fact that they almost took me out!

As I grumbled on up the street, I noticed the number of cars around me that were displaying bumper stickers and window decals with a ‘green theme’ proclaiming one or more virtues related to protecting the earth, its natural resources and its inhabitants.

Hmmm…

You would think pedestrians fit in there somewhere?

It makes you think about the whole green movement.  Here are questions for you to research, discuss and consider:

  • What does ‘being green’ mean? (great alliteration here – more bonus points for knowing what an alliteration is)
  •  What are green jobs?
  • What sorts of professionals work in green jobs?
  • What schooling or training is needed in these various disciplines?
  • Why are green jobs among those listed as ‘ jobs of the future?
  • And, back to my original question, are pedestrians green?

Learning about jobs in industries that are expected to have many career opportunities in the future is a very smart thing to do.  Using your imagination to ponder topics from unusual perspectives is very CareerWise too.

Now get walking and go green!

Exciting news – CareerWise will be launching a  wonderful new green jobs resource soon. Stay tuned!
