Melissa Kerlin and Susan Schneider, the founders of Tailwag Studio and creators of CareerWise Grow Up. Get a Job materials, both worked as human resources marketing executives for almost twenty years apiece. They both hired, trained, supervised and fired(!) many employees over the years as they managed large creative departments for national companies.

After working as business owners, managers and employees themselves, and working for hiring managers across the country, they came to realize how few career exploration and job preparation materials exist that are written from an employer's perspective – materials that could give kids a competitive edge when entering the workforce.

They also learned that many kids start looking for their first job without knowing how to find one that suits their interests and talents. Or, how to land and keep a job. Or how to stand out as an employee so they can move up and around the career ladder.

Kerlin and Schneider also realized just how many interesting jobs there are in the world that few kids ever hear about as career choices. 

So, combining their creative, human resources and management skills, Kerlin and Schneider created their refreshingly relevant line of career materials to make sure that kids have that competitive edge so they can grow up and get the job of their dreams!
